Windows 7 (64x) w/ Intel Core I3, 16G ram ASUS M.B. this way, you have your metronome on a track, with all the changes you need. it will put it on a 2nd audio track, but just drag the event up to the first to keep it all together. then, set the loop to the rest of the song, metronome back to 4/4 and render that.
in your situation, i would set a loop for the intro (4 bars), set the metronome to 5/4 then render the loop range. then it will give you the option of from the start through end markers or the loop range.(loop range is what you need) this will actually create an audio track for the click. in that window in the top right there is a button that says render. if you click the wrench icon by the metronome, itll bring up the settings. The best way ive found to do this is just to render each part of the click to an audio track.
